TransAmerica Trail, week 2 – divide & conquer

Week Two has started off with us missing the tropical storm but we ended up with a split in our group. We had different objectives and interests. Having nearly 10 vehicles in our group was a challenge for fuel stations & during times where we needed to be more nimble to explore a trail that ended up being closed or a tight turn-around scenario. So we wished each other well & moved onward. My team is now known as TAT 2.0. We have an awesome team! Super nimble, adaptive & fun. We completed our track through NC, TN, and MS. A few highlights of those states are below in photos.

  • Jack Daniels Distillery
  • Tom’s Wall honoring his ancestors on the Trail of Tears
  • Visit with Tupelo Fire Department Chief
  • Storm Watching in the Ozarks

We are now at the start of Week Three…at the top of White Rock Mountain in Arkansas in the Ozark Mountains. We are officially in the west…and look forward to less humidity & bugs as we continue toward OK, NM & CO. No vehicle issues (knocking on wood) and everyone is healthy…except for all the bug bites. I’ll update as we make our way toward the desert…until then, we are overland bound.
