Fantastic Family Fun!

Part One…The past few weeks have been super busy with family visits to Yellowstone! I have had so much fun sharing what I learned over the past 4 months with my family. We have been on major tours around the park, exploring the sights and enjoying the beauty together. Heather along with Ashley, BJ, Lucy and Simon visited in mid-August. We had a grand time with the kids and got in some great hiking. While the visits are always shorter than we want, we made the most of each day. After the kids left, Heather and I spent some time hiking in Yellowstone and enjoying time just outside the park in Paradise Valley, MT.

Part Two…Cousins Rod and Kyle came to visit at the end of August for a few days. Kyle had the right attitude when he said…”We’re only here for a few days, so let’s pack it all in!” Off we went! Day one we did the grand loop of Yellowstone, a mere 11 hours later we returned tired, hungry and ready for a good nights rest. Day two we spend hiking Bunsen Peak and seeking wildlife in the Lamar Valley. We even came upon a mishap with a mini-bus off the road, where we checked for injuries (none) and called for help on the radio. It was a shorter day, but also ended tired and hungry. Day three I was off to work at the clinic, while Rod and Kyle headed off to fly fish. We had a great time, and it was a full immersive Yellowstone experience.

I’ll be working at the clinic for another month and continuing wild-land fire training in the YNP  emergency operations center. One month to go, and this adventure will draw to a close. Every day continues to be an amazing gift to share in the beauty of the Yellowstone Valley. Stay tuned as I wrap up the last few weeks to see what comes next.
