2025 Yellowstone Adventure Begins

Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen!

Greetings from Old Faithful Village @ Yellowstone National Park! The 2025 adventure is off to a start with this past week being Bright Week as we celebrate our Risen Savior Jesus Christ! After a proper feast of celebration, I packed up the 4Runner and headed west. I needed to maximize miles-per-day so I didn’t do any sight-seeing along the way and covered the 1900+ miles in three days, arriving into Gardiner Montana late Thursday afternoon. Friday I spent at the Mammoth Clinic orienting to some new computer systems before making the trip south to Old Faithful Village. Shortly after arrival on a bright sunny day, I checked into my government housing…and for those of you who may be unfamiliar with such, please allow me to take you on a brief tour of these amazing digs.

In the pictures you will observe a tranquil lane with humble abodes, one of which I will call home for the next several months. The landscaping is complete with snow drifts and random pine trees, soon to give way to muddy paths and soggy fire-pits. The structure is well fortified with a snow-support-structure so the habitat itself does not fully and completely collapse upon itself during the winter snow pack (~200 inches a year). Inside is complete with a retro-decor that can only be described as something out of the 60’s or 70’s. It’s not old, it’s Vintage! Of particular note is the beautifully appointed bathroom…and since it is property of the National Park Service, it is only fitting that the tub and sink are “ranger green”. Now, this is one of the best spots in the park because we are located a brief 10 minute walk to the Old Faithful Geyser and Downtown Old Faithful. You see, this is the number one attraction within the 2.2 million acres of Yellowstone National Park, and being afforded such accommodations so close for the season is a true blessing.

We are just getting started and the coming week will be filled with trainings, orientation and welcoming colleagues from the Yellowstone Clinics and NPS Emergency Services teams. Thanks for joining and following along!
